Support The Picking Patch
Every day, the supported gardening team work to maintain the beautiful gardens that you cherish on your visits.
Now, they need your help to create their own special space in the gardens.
The team is working to transform the paddock at Furzey Gardens into a thriving fruit orchard – a serene and beautiful space that celebrates their incredible skills and dedication.
This special area, not open to the public, will serve as a peaceful sanctuary where the gardeners can grow in confidence, hone their craft, and take pride in their achievements.
This ambitious project is more than just an orchard – it’s an opportunity for the gardeners to refine their talents and create something remarkable.
Please donate today to help The Picking Patch come to life!
If you donate £75 or more, your name will be featured on a special ‘Supporters of The Picking Patch’ sign outside The Picking Patch as acknowledgment of your generous support.

Meet the team
Meet Matt, Dan, and Kieran, who are part of the supported gardening team at Furzey Gardens.
They are planning to transform the paddock area into a thriving fruit orchard – a space that will be full of life, providing fresh produce and a haven for wildlife. But they can’t do it without your help!
This is a project led by the supported gardeners, giving them a sense of ownership, pride, and accomplishment.
With your donation, you’ll not only help fund essential tools, plants, and supplies, but also empower Matt, Dan, and Kieran to bring their ideas to life.
When discussing their plans, Dan shared, ‘I like that we are going to use electric tools now.’ And Matt said, ‘It would be nice to have some bird feeds, so we can watch the birds.’

How you can help

The team are raising funds to purchase essential items like:
Electric tools: These are more accessible for our gardeners, making it easier for them to work independently
Fruit tree saplings: The heart of the orchard, these will provide beauty, shade, and harvests for years to come
Benches: To create spaces for reflection and rest
Bird feeders: To attract wildlife and bring the orchard to life with the sights and sounds of nature.
Every donation makes a difference – even £10 can help provide essential tools, plants, and materials to bring their vision to life.
