Winter opening hours at Furzey Gardens

27 October 2026

As the seasons change, there’s still plenty to enjoy at Furzey Gardens. From colourful autumn leaves to crisp winter walks, it’s a lovely time to wrap up warm and explore the gardens.

From 2 November until 23 December, our winter opening hours will be 10am to 4pm daily, with gates locked at 4.30pm.

Winter brings a different side to Furzey. Wander through our 12 acres of woodland gardens, enjoy the changing colours and seasonal plants, and see how the landscape transforms as the colder weather arrives. Little explorers can still keep an eye out for our famous fairy doors, hidden throughout the gardens.

Dogs are welcome from 2 November until 31 March too, so your four-legged friends can join you for a winter walk.

Warm up in our tea rooms

After exploring, head to our tea rooms for a warming drink and a cosy treat. You’ll also find a selection of beautiful handmade products from Crafted Earth, ideal for picking up a thoughtful Christmas present while supporting the work of Minstead Trust.

Christmas fun at Furzey

There’s something festive on the way too! Our Christmas trail begins on 21 November, inviting children and families to enjoy a little festive cheer around the gardens.

At just £3 per child, the trail will be an affordable Christmas activity for families to enjoy together. We’ll be sharing more details very soon, so keep an eye on our website and social media.

Whether you’re visiting for a family adventure, a winter walk or simply a hot drink and a slice of cake, we look forward to welcoming you to Furzey this winter.

A short winter break

After the Christmas festivities, Furzey Gardens will close for a short winter break, giving our team time to care for the gardens and prepare for the new season. We’ll reopen in time for February half term, ready to welcome visitors back as the first signs of spring begin to appear. Keep an eye on our website and social media for reopening details.

Plan your visit

To help keep Furzey calm and welcoming, we recommend booking your visit in advance, especially during holidays and busier periods.

Bring comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and anything your little one might need for a slower outdoor day. Then let the garden do the rest.
