Apple Day returns to Furzey Gardens for fifth year
13 October 2026
Apple pressing, mystery apple identification, autumn treats and family fun are all on the menu as Apple Day returns to Furzey Gardens for a fifth year.
The humble apple is getting a whole day in the spotlight at Furzey Gardens this October, as the New Forest garden celebrates five years of its popular Apple Day.
Taking place on Saturday 17 October, 10am–4pm, the day is a chance to peel away from the everyday and enjoy some good old-fashioned autumn fun, with apple pressing, family games, local makers, seasonal treats and plenty of autumn colour happening around the gardens.
Visitors are encouraged to bring apples from their own gardens and have a go at pressing them into fresh juice. Apple expert Chris Bird will also be on hand to help identify mystery varieties brought in from home and share his knowledge and advice with visitors.
There will be plenty to discover beyond the apples too. Local craftspeople will be demonstrating their skills and selling handmade pieces, while the Real Jam & Chutney Co., one of Minstead Trust’s social enterprises, will be bringing along a selection of its preserves.
Tea Rooms Treats
The Furzey Gardens tea rooms will be getting into the Apple Day spirit with a tempting selection of seasonal treats. Visitors can look out for caramel apple tart, apple and blackberry bakes, toffee apple crumble cheesecake, and many more cakes and treats.
Now in its fifth year, Apple Day has become a firm fixture in Furzey’s autumn calendar, offering families a chance to spend time together outdoors, enjoy the changing gardens and celebrate one of the season’s best-loved fruits.
Furzey Gardens
Furzey Gardens is a 12-acre woodland garden in the heart of the New Forest and is part of local charity Minstead Trust. The gardens provide opportunities for neuro disabled people to develop skills, confidence and greater independence.
Normal garden entrance donation applies for Apple Day. Pre-booking is recommended. Visitors wishing to press their own apples should bring a suitable container to take their juice home.
Plan your visit
To help keep Furzey calm and welcoming, we recommend booking your visit in advance, especially during holidays and busier periods.
Bring comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and anything your little one might need for a slower outdoor day. Then let the garden do the rest.
