The shady play area has something for everyone. Come and see the series of African style round houses and the tree house, linked by walkways and tunnels. The crawl tunnel is a special favourite amongst the little ones. There are also swings and an old boat to climb on. The picnic area is close by, take time out to enjoy your sandwiches here.
Note: Children must be accompanied by adults whilst using this area but it is an area of fun for everyone.
The play area is not the only place of magic in the garden, but Furzey gives up its secrets slowly and you need to look hard! A little thatched room, surrounded by fences and made of gnarled and twisted wood and built around an old tree, is a perfect play place for children. If they are sharp eyed they’ll spot, at its base, a beautifully made oak door, not much more than a foot high, with a carved surround and a tiny nameplate. This is one of the fairy doors in the garden, set at ground level, mostly in the base of large trees, and designed and carved by master thatcher Simon Sinkinson. There are reputed to be more than 30 of these secret fairy doors around the garden, so take care where you tread!
