See a working exhibition illustrating the craft of the thatcher.

At Furzey Gardens we have nearly 1000 square metres of thatch on our buildings and visitors will now be able to see the techniques involved in this ancient craft.


A variety of thatching materials are shown on display roofs at eye level... water reed, longstraw, heather, combed wheat straw and others.
Simon Sinkinson, Master Thatcher, will be demonstrating the thatcher's craft on the following days:

Thatching fun for all the family
Saturday 7th April
Saturday 6th May
And generally thatching on site 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
